Canon Kitties

Borrowed the new work camera to get to know it a little.
(Canon Rebel T2i for those wondering.)

Figured there's no better practice subjects than a couple pretty Bengals.

They are extra pretty under such quality equipment.

Mika kept wanting to walk into the lens.

There was a bird in the tree out back keeping them entertained while I shot.

Pretty, pretty kitty face.

Played with the standard kit lens to start with, then switched to the macro.

Macro chin?

I love this shot.

Had a hard time getting the girls to be still so I went out back.

And shot through the glass. Mika didn't like being ditched.

Meow!

Poor abandoned kitties.

MEOW!

Someday I will own my own copy of this camera and macro lens. Hopefully someday soon.

Backyard Explorer Cats

The day was so beautiful yesterday we spent of chunk of the afternoon in the back yard.

Sniff, sniff, sniff!

The kitties appreciated that we haven't gotten around to mowing yet.

There was some good grass nomming.

A loud truck momentarily peaked their concern.

They had a good time running around playing attack the sticks.

Kitties look so pretty in the sun.

Cracked Out Kitties

ZOMG catnip!

Mika and Mochi loooove the nip.

Om nom nom nom.

Mochi turns into a total spaz.

Mochi: Not true!

I happened to catch Mika mid-sneeze.

Eventually they start to chill a little.

Well.... Kind of.

Silly Mochi Cat

Water tastes better if you splash it about first and stand in it while drinking, right?

Mochi: What?

Trying to sit like a person today, are we?

Mochi: Does that mean I get dinner at the table tonight?!

Dream on, kitty face.

And just because I don't want to leave out Mika entirely...

Wild Reindeer on the Loose

Occasionally we take a sweet little unsuspecting Bengal like this one:

And use our magics to turn it into a reindeer.

Maybe it's not the nicest thing to do in the world.

But isn't she adorable?

The first couple times we did this, she would buck around wildly until the antlers would fly off.

This time, Mika grabbed the strap with her mouth and wandered calmly all over the house, as if taking herself for a walk.

I guess she's adjusting?

Mochi's turn!

Her initial reaction was not as calm as Mika's.

But then she was fine.

Whoever is not in the antlers follows the antlered one around wherever they go, which I find greatly amusing.

Mochi: Why do you hate me?

Poor kitties.

Slumber Party!

There is a very sleepy Mochi curled up on my lap as I am writing this. She's adorable.

Matt was on gone at conference in Chicago all week and some very obnoxious birds have decided to nest right above where my bed is so I spent the week camping out with the kitties on the futon downstairs.

They, of course, thought that was a fabulous plan (as they aren't allowed into either of the bedrooms - Matt's a light sleeper + his allergies).

It was lovely having a kitty curled up on either side of me all night. I have a feeling they aren't going to approve of my returning to my own bed tonight.

And as for Mochi...

She's been making it very difficult to type up this post.

But I don't really mind.

Some Mochi for Mochi

First of all, here's a little bit of "awww" for ya:

They are really starting to fill up that bed of theirs, eh?

We brought home Yogurt Extreme the other day and made sure to get some mochi as a topping so that we could see how Mochi would feel about getting a taste of her name.

She sniffed it a moment and then....

walked away, completely uninterested.

Mika came over to do her own sniffing.

And then tried to take my finger off along with the mochi.

She thought it was delicious.

Mochi: What are you eating, Mika?

Munch, munch, munch.

Mochi: You're not going to eat me next, are you?
